Position Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all plant equipment and facilities. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime and supporting production goals in a heavy industrial steel manufacturing environment.
*We are looking for Supervisors for both 2nd and 3rd Shifts*
Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 per year + OT and Quarterly Bonuses
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance personnel, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation technicians.
- Schedule and assign work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and repair activities to minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all plant machinery, including furnaces, rolling mills, cranes, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- Monitor the condition of equipment and initiate corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards; lead safety meetings and enforce safety practices.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to support equipment upgrades and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports using CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of tools, parts, and services.
- Provide hands-on technical support and mentorship to maintenance staff.
- Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining maintenance personnel.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, or electrical engineering preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, PLCs, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a steel plant environment (heat, noise, dust).
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be required to work off-shifts, weekends, or respond to emergencies as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
- Background in lean manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices.
