BMG’s Knoxville, TN site has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Assembler focused on Machine Building! This is a hands-on role where you’ll use your mechanical skills to put together the machines that power today’s packaging automation industry. You’ll work with tools, blueprints, and 3D models to assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems into complete machines.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Soldi Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, pneumatic schematics, and measurement tools (standard and metric).
- Ability to read SolidWorks or comparable 3D models.
- Experience using hand tools, torque wrenches, and shop equipment.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems a plus.
- Able to work on your own and as part of a team.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive job assignments and instructions on blueprints and work orders from supervisor or team leader.
- Move parts from staging area to assembly area.
- Clean and prepare parts for assembly.
- Assemble ovens, rails, stations, frames, hydraulic units, etc., prior to final assembly with instructions.
- Install guards, rails, ovens, and other assemblies.
- Mount and plumb hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Assemble roll stands to work order and print.
- Assemble machine in proper sequence from work order and prints.
- Inspect machine when complete per work order and fill out check sheets.
- After the machine is complete prepare machine for shipment and dismantle as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As assigned, perform work of an equal or lower grade classification on a temporary basis.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and policies as outlined in the BMG Employee Handbook.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Tool requirement (basics: tape measure, wrenches, socket set, mallet or hammer, cutters).
- Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Walk for extended periods of time
- May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, performs sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
JOB TYPE: Full-time
PAY RANGE: $20 - $23 per hour, based on experience.
SCHEDULE: First Shift – 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
