We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Staff Engineer to support the successful delivery of construction projects. In this role, you will apply your growing expertise to deliver on-site engineering support, perform quality assurance checks, monitor construction progress, and proactively solve problems to ensure compliance with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and schedule commitments. You will provide technical oversight during field activities, lead site inspections, and contribute to project planning. The Staff Engineer will help improve field processes through practical recommendations and participate in client, contractor, and stakeholder meetings with increasing independence and technical input.
Position Responsibilities
- Leads field reporting and supports project managers by providing insights on contractor productivity, safety, and compliance issues.
- Assists with field implementation of construction changes and documents approved deviations from plans and specifications.
- Coordinates logistics for multi-disciplinary site inspections; ensures follow-through on quality control concerns raised during reviews.
- Performs detailed field observations and reports on scope changes, workforce performance, and schedule impacts; supports resolution planning with senior staff.
- Assists project managers in coordinating with third-party testing agencies and consultants; reviews deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
- Supports project managers by reviewing submittals, RFIs, and minor change orders related to field work.
- Provides technical and administrative support for field documentation, permitting processes, and contractor communications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a construction or field engineering role.
- Strong understanding of construction sequences, project coordination, and safety procedures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, submittals, and technical specifications.
- Experience using field management or project control software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to document field observations, identify issues, and assist with resolution tracking.
- Familiarity with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) practices and testing procedures.
- Working knowledge of building codes and construction standards (IBC, OSHA, etc.).
The salary range for this position is $83,100 - $97,600.
A hired employee will be placed within this salary range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual’s scope of relevant experience and geographic location.
Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
