POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Sr. Human Resources Business Partner to join our HR team in Los Angeles. This role will focus on supporting HR operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. labor laws, and maintaining a positive employee experience. This is a hybrid role, requiring two days in our Northridge, CA office and three days remote work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations & Manager Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for managers and employees in assigned client groups.
- Provide coaching and guidance on employee relations, performance management, and team development.
- Lead investigations and resolution of employee issues in partnership with leadership and Legal.
Compliance & Policy
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Manage compliance activities including I-9 verification, EEO reporting, wage & hour reviews, and employment eligibility checks.
- Partner with Payroll & Benefits Manager on leave administration and accommodations, ensuring compliant processes and smooth employee experiences.
Compensation & Rewards
- Support annual compensation reviews, promotion cycles, and equity refresh processes.
- Partner with Finance and leadership on headcount planning, cost modeling, and compensation reporting.
- Ensure compliance with pay transparency requirements and monitor pay equity.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Partner with leadership on engagement survey action planning.
- Support culture-building, wellness, and recognition initiatives.
- Collaborate with the L&D function on manager enablement and employee development initiatives.
HR Operations (Transitional)
- Process job changes, promotions, and other employee lifecycle transactions in Rippling.
- Ensure employee data accuracy and documentation compliance.
- Support HR reporting and workforce metrics until the HRIS/Ops function is established.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree or HR certification such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in an HR Business Partner or Sr. HR Generalist role supporting U.S.-based employees.
- Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws (California employment law experience strongly preferred).
- Proven success in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and manager coaching.
- Hands-on HRIS experience managing employee data, workflows, and reporting (Rippling experience a plus).
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and Payroll/Benefits teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change, support organizational design, and build engagement initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to influence at all levels of the organization.
