Position Summary
The echocardiographer performs all diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations that create the images needed for diagnosis. The echocardiographer integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Performs all cardiac ultrasound including patient positioning, machine set-up, image acquisition, measurements, and post-processing.
2. Follows all National Patient Safety Goals.
3. Provides recordkeeping of patient history and symptoms.
4. Reviews orders, explains procedure, answers questions and provides a high level of patient satisfaction.
5. Assists physician in the performance of stress echocardiography procedures.
6. Maintains cleanliness of department and assures adequate supply inventory.
7. Completes report template necessary for the physician interpretation.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
â— High School Diploma or Equivalent
â— Graduate of an Accredited School of Echocardiography
Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field of Study
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
1 year of experience in Cardiac sonography
Preferred:
2 years experience in Cardiac sonography
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Registered Cardiac Specialist Credential or registry-eligible.
Preferred:
Registered Cardiovascular technologist
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Comprehensive understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology. Thorough knowledge of Echocardiograhic equipment
