About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our [clinical/support/administrative] team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will assist surgical staff with direct patient care activities. You will assume responsibility for providing technical assistance in the operating room along with assisting in the delivery of quality patient care through utilization of technical skills. As a Surgical Technologist, you will perform technical duties relating to scrub role, including smooth, precise, and efficient reaction to all situations, and assists with departmental work as assigned.
What You’ll Do

Maintenance: Obtains and checks necessary supplies, instruments and equipment needs to meet both patient and surgeon intra-operative needs, ensuring availability and function.
Sterilization: Applies knowledge of surgical asepsis when arranging and opening sterile surgical packs, instrument trays and selected supplies. Monitors maintenance of aseptic technique of the surgical team both pre-operatively and intra-operatively. Performs gowning, gloving and draping techniques according to department policy. Maintains a clean and orderly work area when performing the scrub role.
Surgical Assists: Performs duties of the surgical assistant as directed by departmental management under the supervision of the circulating registered nurse during daily and emergent situations. Hands surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon and the assistant intra-operatively so that the surgical teams’ attention remains on the operative field. Anticipates the need of the surgical team throughout the surgical procedure. Demonstrates knowledge of proper function of the surgical instrumentation.
Communication:Reports the location of drains, implants, grafts, etc inserted intra-operatively. Ensures that the circulating registered nurse has all necessary information for documentation on the OR record.
Patient Safety: Provides for patient safety through preventive measures. Practices appropriate hand-washing techniques, adheres to infection control, and isolation procedures. Responds appropriately to fire, disaster and other emergency situations.
Time Management: Follows instructions accurately, organizes multiple tasks, and establishes day to day priorities.

What You Bring
- High school diploma. Successfully completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; provides evidence that the person was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015; or is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service.
- New graduates may not be employed to practice for more than a twelve month period immediately following successful completion of a surgical technology program without documentation that the employee holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization.
