SUMMARY:The Cost Estimation Engineer role will deal with the costing and estimation of new furnace/dip brazed cold plates and chassis, along with long run and high-volume production. Commitment to and support of the company’s core values are key to success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide cost estimates during the quoting process for new products as well as existing legacy products.
- Collects data and analyzes all project cost, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
- Gather specifications and related documents and work with stakeholders in order to convert specifications to cost estimates for new and current products.
- Utilize cost methodologies and tools to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate cost data. Identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential cost.
- Establish cost estimates of production processes and tooling costs and review alternatives or put forward recommendations for improvement.
- Track actual costs relative to estimates and report status on a regular basis to ensure costs are in line with forecasts.
- Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review.
- Contribute to cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures and monitor trend.
- Review manufacturing variance reports every month to understand and analyze the variances. Adjust costs as required based on variance analysis.
- Coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing production processes.
- Uphold the company core values.

- While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this position, the Team Member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Computer skills are sufficient to log in and out of ERP and Payroll time tracking software.

- Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime in the evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
- Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- 5-7 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- B.S. degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or similar engineering or relevant experience.
- Knowledge of brazing, machining, heat treating, plating, welding, mechanical and/or non-destructive testing; CNC machining knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of Epicor ERP 10 or similar ERP/MES software preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract up to four place decimals. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
