Wage Range: $$43.34 - $80.20 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. EvergreenHealth Monroe, a small semi-rural acute care hospital has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced REGISTERED NURSE to fill a day shift position in our Post Anesthesia Care Unit, staffed with 24/7 board-certified Internal Medicine Hospitalists. EvergreenHealth Monroe, a small community hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to help provide staffing coverage in our Surgical Services department which includes 3 OR Suites, 2 Procedure Rooms and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) seeing primarily orthopedic and general surgery cases. This is a day shift position, working 8-hour shifts with minimal standby and on-call rotation requirements, which will be further clarified for candidates during the interview process.

JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Adheres to Hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within PACU. Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the State Nurse Practice Act. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit and hospital Performance Improvement activities. Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to respond to rapidly changing patient needs. Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to function on the unit. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire date and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire date.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to initiate a nursing plan of care using the nursing process. Ability to organize and prioritize patient assignments and unit activities. Ability to safely use equipment specific to the nursing unit.
Use of personal protective equipment as appropriate, documentation of immunization/immunity against hepatitis B, and training related to blood-borne pathogens is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous substances, and risk of physical injury from transferring and transporting patients and operation of equipment.
WORK CONTACT GROUP: All hospital staff, patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and the public.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and transfer and transport patients. Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull. Walks and stands for most of the working day. Must possess visual, tactile, and manual dexterity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/TECHNICAL
1. Uses all available resources in the initial assessment of patient needs including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, discharge planning, performs a reassessment, upon transfer and discharge.
2. Formulates and revises plan of care for assigned patients based on patient problems, patient age, nursing interventions and treatment, and specific patient outcomes.
3. Delivers individualized patient care consistent with established standards of care, policies and procedures.
4. Makes effective nursing judgements including crisis/emergency situations.
5. Determines the effectiveness of patient care through patient communications, assessment, adjusts patient care to meet changing needs.
6. Appropriately delegates tasks but retains ultimate responsibility.
7. Maintains the role of patient advocate.
8. Uses 2 patient identifiers before giving meds. Uses Read back on all verbal and telephone orders and documents as such.
9. Remains knowledgeable of all current nursing policies/procedures.
10. Maintains complete, accurate, concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions and patient responses.
11. Assumes leadership functions including assessing staffing needs, organizing and delegating work assignments based on patient acuity and individual staff skills levels; recognizes risk management issues and reports appropriately.
12. Assumes responsibility in helping staff the unit when there are sick calls or vacations.
13. Completes unit based competencies per hospital requirements and policies.
14. Demonstrates proficiency in department specific nursing skills to provide total patient care.
15. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
16. Communicates assessment data and findings to other members of the health care team and facilitates appropriate intervention.
17. Gives concise and accurate report based on current status of the patient and the outcome of the care provided.
18. Provides or assists with orientation of new and existing staff.
19. Demonstrates attitudes and/or behaviors in interacting with others that are courteous, polite, concerned, friendly and respectful, resulting in favorable patient, physician and staff perceptions of the hospital and its employees.
