JOB SUMMARY
- The clinical application specialist is a nurse informaticist who bridges the gap between nursing practice and information technology in the healthcare setting. The primary function is to be a knowledgeable consultant, educator, and evaluator to maintain and improve the EHR (Electronic Health Record). They consistently work with clinical departments, search for, and implement improvements which allow clinicians to provide high quality efficient care. They will ensure that healthcare clinicians can effectively utilize the technology that supports patient care.
- Utilize nursing knowledge to identify areas of system enhancements to improve clinical outcomes
- Facilitate workgroups to analyze and modify current practice to streamline workflow processes
- Communicate significant process issue findings with department leadership and other team members as appropriate to facilitate system optimization.
- Provide ongoing support to the clinical care providers with technology changes/enhancements
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation within the EHR
- Test and modify applications to comply with updates
- Stay up-to-date on clinical guidelines and best practices to ensure technology supports optimal patient care
- Act as a liaison between clinical and IT departments
- Participate in the selection and implementation of new digital health technologies
- Leading or contributing to quality improvement projects that leverage data analysis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Professional & Technical Skills
-
Two + years clinical experience and in intra/inter departmental communication. Professional & Technical Skills related to computer software and applications.

Education
-
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in information management, computer science of healthcare administration, or related health IT degree. Clinical degree in medical technology, nursing, pharmacy, or other health-related degree.
