About the role
Nearly half of the U.S. workforce is hourly - healthcare workers, retail associates, manufacturing teams. These massive workforces are Rippling's largest customers, and they deserve better than outdated systems.
The design challenges are complex: Managers need to instantly see when they're understaffed for Friday's dinner rush and seamlessly fill those gaps. They need intelligent scheduling tools that proactively flag potential compliance violations - overtime thresholds, break requirements, and more. At the same time, they must keep employees happy and engaged. These admins juggle compliance, budgets, and people every single day. Every design decision ripples across their entire workforce.
We're looking for a seasoned designer who's passionate about solving real-world problems and genuinely improving people's daily lives—someone who believes hourly workers deserve the same thoughtful, elegant experiences as everyone else, and who has the vision and skills to make it happen.
What you will do
- Design world-class experiences for modern workforce management - forecasting staff needs, scheduling, attendance, chat communication
- Get close to customers—understand how they actually use the product, what breaks their workflows, and translate those insights into design priorities that drive real business impact
- Anticipate future needs and edge cases, future-proofing designs as we expand into new markets and increasingly complex global scenarios
- Design capabilities and systems that scale across multiple products and use cases, creating coherent experiences across Rippling"s entire platform
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and go-to-market partner to plan, design, build, and ship new capabilities that push the limits of possible
- Deliver precise designs and prototypes that communicate complex concepts and interactions clearly to engineering teams and stakeholders
What you will need
- 6+ years of professional product design experience with a track record of shipping complex, high-impact products end-to-end from planning to QA
- Proven ability to transform complexity into elegant simplicity—whether in fintech, enterprise software, compliance tools, or other demanding domains
- Strong craft skills with proficiency in design tools and the the ability to create compelling, detailed design specifications
- Strong communication and collaboration skills—you can articulate design decisions clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Relentless customer focus—you dig deep to understand real user needs and translate those insights into design decisions that solve real problems
- Self-starter mentality with a bias toward action—you thrive in fast-paced environments and turn ambiguity into clarity through thoughtful design exploration
