Lead Phlebotomist

Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director, Laboratory Administrative Director, and Supervisor of Specimen Procurement and Dispatch Services, primary duties include Phlebotomy, Specimen Processing, Customer Service, training, coaching and mentoring. Ensures that the daily activities of the Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing areas are completed accurately and on time. 2. Reads, understands and complies with departmental policies, protocols and procedures. 3. Maintain a safe and professional environment for patients, clients and employees adhering to established safety guidelines, inclusive of the use of appropriate precautions, safety equipment and practices. Train new employees on universal precautions, appropriate donning and doffing of PPE, and complete annual safety training for the staff. 4. Perform accurate and precise work with a consistently low error rate with confidence in all specimen collection and processing duties, following established practices and procedures.
Qualifications: High school graduate or GED. Recent graduate of phlebotomy program preferred. Certified Phlebotomist, ASCP preferred. Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience, or the equivalent in education and experience required. Technical training desired. Prior experience in a lead role preferred. Previous experience working in a medical setting preferred.
