Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration: required. Must possess certification with either National certifying body (CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA).
- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Attention to detail; good organizational skills; Basic computer skills.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Sterile Processing environment

- Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity, and discretion.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively overall.

PART TWO: Performance Expectations - Lead Role
- Contributes to the short and long term departmental planning and strategy.
- Oversee training within his/her area of expertise in the department, which includes: identifying needs, developing training, providing/facilitating training, track training, and validating the effectiveness of the training.
- Provides ongoing and annual input on staff performance to the leadership of the department.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance Program for his/her area of expertise in the department.
- Assists in the review, development and revisions of policies and procedures for his/her area of the department.

Position Objective

PART THREE: Performance Expectations - Functional

Performance Expectations:
- Dons and doffs Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by national standards and guidelines.
- Receives and replenishes supply needs within decontamination area, including but not limited to cleaning brushes, enzymatic detergent solutions, PPE, test monitoring supplies.
- Performs routine tests on all mechanical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s guidelines and national standards, including but not limited to automated endoscope reprocessors, detergent-dispensing units, flushing devices.
- Receives soiled or new equipment (instrumentation, scopes, supplies, etc.) from the procedural clinics throughout the system; documenting receipt via the tracking system; decontaminate said equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Disassembles equipment as necessary before proceeding with the required cleaning method(s).
- Identifies repair needs from either communication from the procedural clinics or upon inspection of the received soiled/new instrumentation and relaying that communication to the CSR Manager.
- Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment to achieve decontamination, including cleaning brushes, enzymatic detergent solutions, flushing devices, and leak test devices.
- Cleans and disinfects workstation by utilizing with antibacterial wipes and solutions.
- Documents all instrumentation and equipment tasks performed via instrument tracking system.
- Inspects and assembles all equipment, instruments, and scopes, verifies instrument functionality, is free of bioburden and debris, and is clear of tears, rips, and damage.
- Transports items to and configures into drying cabinets.
- Maintains clean and organized workstation, ensuring workspace is functional for colleague use upon assignment completion or as needed.
- Designates product to appropriate reprocessing method and cycle according to MIFUs.
- Inspects packaged product to ensure all external indicators, filters, and/or labels are secured to items, returns non-compliant product for repackaging.
- Loads sterilizer in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure cycle completion; includes biological testing as appropriate.
- Performs routine sterilizer testing including biological monitoring and leak testing.
- Following policies and procedures to appropriately documents result of sterilizer testing.
- Removes and inspects items from sterilizer utilizing approved methods to preserve packaging integrity.
- Following established procedures selects appropriate reprocessing method for heat sensitive instruments, equipment, or flexible endoscopes.
- Performs daily AER, sterilizer, storage maintenance in accordance with established policies and procedures, documents appropriately.
- Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
