JOB SUMMARY

Prepare, sterilize, install and clean healthcare equipment. Inspect, operate and perform routine testing on equipment to ensure supplies and equipment are available for procedures.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and/or experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification as either: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from HSPA (HealthcareSterile Processing Association); OR CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) from CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution) preferred. Applicants without sterile processing certification are required to obtain CRCST certification via HSPA within ONE (1) year of meeting the eligibility requirements to sit for the certification exam. Eligibility is defined by HSPA as "10 weeks (400 hours) expereince" in a Sterile Processing hospital setting. Current incumbents in this job role as of July 1, 2025, must obtain CRCST or CSPDT certificatioy by July 1, 2026.
Knowledge: Production and Processing of instruments and supplies.
Skills: Operation Monitoring- watching/interpreting gauges and monitors to ensure sterility.
Coordination of daily operations, preparation of manual orders and data entry skills.
Interpersonal and communication skills. Must be detail oriented, attentive to quality
control/monitoring and distribution of instruments.
Abilities: Problem Sensitivity- ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Information ordering appropriateness - ability to arrange tasks or actions in logical order to
facilitate workflow. Customer and personal service a must to meet customer needs.
