Overview
- The SHE Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and procedures on construction or other project sites to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize hazards. The SHE Engineer will be responsible for conducting inspections, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions, while also providing training and guidance on safety practices.
- This role is reporting directly to SHE Manager
- The role will be based at project site in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor safety, health and environmental programs at project sites.
- Conduct routine audits and safety and environmental inspections at the project site, and identify potential hazards and risks, and plan and implement the necessary corrective actions.
- Prepare training handouts (training materials) and conduct safety and environmental training and orientation for new employees, including evaluating and ensuring that they understand and follow safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with fire, safety and environmental regulations and standards applicable at the project site and operation stage.
- Provide guidance and advice to project management and employees on safety and environmental issues, as well as provide recommendations for necessary improvements.
- Collect and analyze safety and environmental data and generate accurate and detailed safety and environmental reports (OHS Performance Report and RKL RPL Report).
- Maintain statistic records of incidents and accidents and develop corrective actions to prevent future incidents and accidents.
- Investigate incidents and accidents that occurred at the project site and produce accurate and detailed reports on causes and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Recommend appropriate safety and environmental equipment and tools and ensure that they function properly and are well maintained.
- Review of fire protection system design (firefighting system, fire alarm system, gas detection system, and fire extinguishers) refers to applicable codes/standards (OSHA, NFPA and Local Regulations as minimum).
- Perform additional tasks according to project requirements and management requests.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety management or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in safety engineering or a related role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance.
- Have the K3 specialist certifications (OHS Specialist and or Fire Specialist)
- Have the Environmental Training Certificates (i.e.: Pencegahan & Penangulangan Pencemaran Udara (PPPU), and or Pencegahan & Penangulangan Pencemaran Limbah B3 (PPPLB3) certificate)
- Understand the K3L and SMK3 management systems. Understand OSH laws and other regulations relevant to OSH.
- Able to analyze work risks and potential work hazards and anticipate them.
- Proven experience conducting semi qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOPS, FMEA, FERA, others), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), and developing safety protocols
- Experience in petrochemical or chemical industry is a must.
- Experience with incidents investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiences.
