JOB SUMMARY
-
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech/language/dysphagia therapy to Home Care/Hospice patients and primary case management when indicated. Responsible for timely and accurate communication and documentation relative to speech therapy delivery. Promotes and develops speech/language services in Home Care/Hospice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: See Licensure/Certification/Registration requirement.

Experience: Two (2) years previous experience.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech/Language Pathology from ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association). Minnesota license in Speech/Language Pathology. Wisconsin license in Speech/Language Pathology within six (6) months of hire. Wisconsin Background Study upon hire and renewed per Wisconsin state law.

Knowledge of: speech/language/dysphagia therapy principles; interpersonal dynamics; community resources; legal limitations within the practice of speech therapy; knowledge of palliative care philosophy. Ability to: Make decisions and solve problems; work in a mature constructive manner; exercise good, professional judgment and to accept responsibility; follow through with directions; organize and prioritize responsibilities; present information to others; be self-motivated and independent; time manage; tolerate extreme changes in weather and temperature. Ability to regularly travel to and from various duty locations in a safe and timely manner.

SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
