We are currently seeking a Full-Time Prior Authorization Medication Access Specialist to join our dedicated team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting patient access to essential medications by coordinating prior authorizations and assisting with medication-related resources.

✅ Qualifications:
• Pharmacy Technician Registration (PTR) for the state of Florida is required
• Minimum of 5 years of healthcare or pharmacy experience
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in processing prior authorizations
• Knowledge of 340B program compliance and operational workflows in clinical settings.
• Familiarity with medication adherence practices and health coaching techniques. • Preferred experience working with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) on medication synchronization, MTM (Medication Therapy Management), and refill protocols.

The Prior Authorization & Medication Access Specialist supports the pharmacy department’s strategic goals of enhancing medication access, promoting adherence, and maximizing 340B savings for the organization. This role ensures timely processing of prior authorizations, assists with medication refill appointments, and proactively supports adherence initiatives for Premier patients. Working closely with prescribers, patients, pharmacy staff, and care team members, the technician helps eliminate access barriers while strengthening operational and financial performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate, complete, and track prior authorization (PA) requests for prescribed medications, collaborating with providers and third party payors.
- Monitor high margin and high denial medications to identify opportunities for cost savings and intervention.
- Conduct outreach to patients due or overdue for prescription refills to encourage timely medication pick-up and adherence.
- Assist patients with scheduling provider appointments needed for medication renewals or therapy follow-up.
- Track refill request trends and report adherence barriers (e.g., cost, transportation, understanding) to the care team for resolution.
- Document interventions and communications in the electronic health record (EHR) and pharmacy systems.
- Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, filling, and delivery of medications and other tasks associated with dispensing.
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
- Keep other care team members informed when situations occur that disrupt timely patient flow through site.
- Contribute to community give back initiatives and be an advocate for Premier’s mission

- Work towards attaining department goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA)

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Pharmacy Technician registration for the state of Florida required
- National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy technician or healthcare access experience; FQHC experience is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in processing prior authorizations and working with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) on medication synchronization, MTM, or refill protocols preferred.
- Knowledge of 340B program compliance and operational workflows in clinical settings.
- Familiarity with medication adherence practices and health coaching techniques.
- Proficiency with EHR, pharmacy software, scheduling systems, patient portal and insurance verification platforms
- Bilingual preferred
- Obtain and maintain Epic certification/ annual compliance throughout employment
