About This Role
The role of the Compliance Manager is to lead a team of data processors and compliance specialists within the Collective Bargaining and Employer Relations Department of SEIU 775. This position reports to the Deputy Director and is a non-bargaining unit supervisory position.
Essential Functions:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Supervise, manage, develop, and lead a skilled team in the areas of report processing, financial and contractual compliance, document quality assurance, and data entry.
- Support team members with Employer issues and work across internal functions when escalated support is needed.
- Provide directions and support to the team on daily operations and projects.
- Create and maintain systems for staff training and accountability including routine performance reviews and provide direct feedback to the team members.
- Participate in strategic planning around improving membership numbers through field, communications, phones, bargaining, and other methods.
- Monitoring, Tracking, and Reporting
- Work with the Data team and leadership to build and monitor tracking reports on dues and membership compliance.
- Monitor for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data entry, report processing, and deduction remittance.
- Audit Employer data and processes for compliance.
- Track and report to internal partners progress and roadblocks in monthly report and financial processing
- Collective Bargaining and Employer Relations
- Collaborate with CBER Specialists and lead continual improvement of collective bargaining contracts as they relate to improving Employer reporting and deduction remittance.
- Escalate and track Employer non-compliance issues with CBER Specialists as necessary.
- Provide second-level support and lead communication with external employer partners for escalated issues, and bargaining unit onboarding and ownership transitions.
- Data and financial entry and compliance
- Standardize the team’s operations and lead continuous process improvement efforts to improve efficiency.
- Ensure data is handled, transferred, or processed according to legal and SEIU 775 guidelines.
- Monitor data entry workloads and plans resources to reduce backlogs
- Identify and improve process efficiency and cross-functional collaboration
- Work with internal teams including data, communications, and legal to build, improving and monitoring systems around compliance mailings and notifications.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordination with the Data and Technology teams, Member Resource Center, Finance Director, and other internal functions as necessary.
- Assignments to political, electoral and growth mobilization as required by the organization.
- May be required to do political work for candidates and member political education as part of job duties.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity and knowledge of IT systems and technologies, including SQL Server, Salesforce, and Office 365
- Data cleaning, preparation, and analysis
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends.
- Understanding compliance requirements relevant to the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to supervise and develop direct reports in a management level position
- Familiarity with labor union participation rules and union security requirements.
- Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge of coaching, development, and mentoring staff.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skill.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate SQL database experience
- Project management experience
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and enforcing contracts and/or terms of an agreement
- Familiarity with industry best practices for financial compliance and data integrity compliance.

- This position operates in a hybrid environment with a combination of in-office and remote work expectations. The primary office location is SEIU 775’s Seattle headquarters.
- Work is generally performed in a professional office setting, though it may also involve off-site meetings, visits to employer locations, and attendance at external events.
- May be required work outside of normal business hours to include weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.

- Frequent use of standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers, and video conferencing systems.
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, binders, campaign materials).
- Requires visual acuity for reading and computer work, and auditory ability for phone and in-person communication.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, sometimes on short notice.
Compensation:
Providing current or previous salary information is optional and will not be factored into hiring decisions. Prospective Employees covered by the CBA can request a copy of the wage scale, the CBA, and any current relevant MOUs upon application to the position.
This position is full-time, exempt. This position is not included in the Bargaining Unit. Pay ranges from $103,957 – $127,005 per year.
