Phone Triage Representative
The Telephone Triage role is primarily responsible for answering incoming calls to assist in meeting patient needs. Duties include but are not limited to scheduling appointments, registering new patients into the EPM software, and screening other requests.
Essential Functions of the Role:
• Answer telephones in the telephone triage department to respond to inquiries made by patients, other physicians’ offices, and other medical facilities.
• Identify patient needs clarifying information requested.
• Screen and route patient calls to other departments efficiently and appropriately.
• Complete detailed patient phone notes and send EHR tasks to appropriate staff.
• Responsible for scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling new, current, and follow –up, patient appointments and testing as needed for 14 Physicians, and various departments.
• Complete new patient registration using computerized automated scheduling system.
• Provide patient instructions for testing as requested.
• Complete new hospital consults form as requested.
• Collect all necessary demographic information including insurance data.
• Fax appropriate medical documentation as requested by other physicians’ offices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school or GED required.
• Computer knowledge required; electronic medical records (EMR) experience highly preferred.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be self-motivated individual.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
• Multilingual a plus!
• Required sitting for a prolonged period, answering calls and reading computer screen.
Work Environment
This position and will report to the Christian Northeast Office Monday-Friday as scheduled between 7:00 am and 5:00 PM. Work is performed in a call-center type environment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
