PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership and direction of patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of state board approved School of Nursing.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio
Educational and experiential qualifications with consideration of the following
Education- BSN preferred
Certification preferred for those meeting ANCC eligibility requirements
Critical Care Experience preferred.
ACLS required by end of orientation period.
Membership preferred in professional nursing organization
Academic and experiential requirements as required by applicable federal, state and local law

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normally works 8-10 hours per day, with the exception of call days and assigned late days.
Expected to rotate being on call to provide 24/7 emergency coverage with a thirty-minute response time for all Stemi and/or urgent, emergent cases outside of business hours.
Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff to maintain adequate unit coverage.
Subject to changes of patient assignment to accommodate departmental needs.
Expected to adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Expected to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for sterile, invasive procedures involving fluoroscopy such as, but not limited to hats, masks, gowns, shields, and lead radiology aprons throughout delivery of care.
Hazardous exposure category 1.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Expected to scrub, circulate, and document various departmental procedures such as heart catheterizations, angioplasties, TAVR’s, Mitral clips, PFO’s, LAAC procedures. Rotates working in prep/recovery as well as procedure rooms and EP procedures as needed.
Expected to help with stocking rooms during downtime as well as helping with putting stock away in the stockroom and assessing product needs.
Maintains a clean working environment. Helps turn rooms over in between cases, as well as making sure that all equipment is clean and products put away at the end of the day.
Demonstrates competency in utilizing invasive, hemodynamic monitoring.
Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.
Communicates effectively with peers, medical, nursing and interdisciplinary staff in the delivery of care.
Participates in and supports hospital safety programs and initiatives.
Supports and follows hospital policies and best practice measures.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Collects, analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health in relation to the procedure.
Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
Develops and implements a plan that employs strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes safely and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations.
Collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.

Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing services.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities of the department as appropriate.
Administers conscious sedation according to policy and documents according to policy.
Recovers patients from anesthesia according to policy.
Assess cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal and peripheral vascular status. Documents findings and reports abnormal or out of range results to physician.
Provide emotional support to patient/family by assessing anxiety and communicating effectively about procedures and delays in schedule.
Is proactive. Anticipates and responds to patient/physician/family members/coworkers needs. Demonstrates an energetic and positive approach to work. Is sensitive to customer’s physical, social and cultural needs.
Communicates with peers, medical, nursing, and interdisciplinary staff in the delivery of care. Openly communicates with Unit Director/ANM regarding any concerns.
Supports and follows hospital policies and best practice measures.
Abides by hospital attendance policy, being in your work area at the start of your shift.
Maintaining a positive attitude, refraining from negative conversation, being open to change.
