Job Summary: The Director, Business Development has responsibility for leading the identification and evaluation of new business or business enhancement opportunities for the organization, and the management of key internal and external relationships to execute strategic organizational priorities. This role evaluates new business opportunities for profitability, feasibility and alignment WMCHealth’s strategic plan and priorities, and tracks and reports the key performance results, including ROI from executed initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements an organizational process for network-wide business planning
- Establish an intake, plan development and review process focused on alignment with organizational priorities, assessment of resources and market needs, and opportunity return.
- Establishes an ongoing review process to track and monitor results of approved initiatives via dashboards and scorecards. Reports results and key performance indicators via network operational review meetings.
- Identifies and develops new business initiatives and opportunities aligned with the organization’s strategic direction.
- Seeks and evaluates business opportunities for profitability, feasibility and alignment with organizational goals
- Develops comprehensive assessments of new opportunities including business plans, competitive and feasibility assessments, risk assessments, demand and expected returns, and market viability
- Partners with leaders in operational and service line leaders, hospital executive leadership, medical group, finance, human resources, support services departments and clinical leaders to establish business opportunity summaries
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulatory requirements and hospital accreditation standards as it related to development of new business opportunities. Partners with appropriate internal and third-party advisors to ensure standards are assessed
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external providers and clinical affiliates to identify, assess and execute partnership opportunities.
- Manages development and execution of external provider business development initiatives, including contracting.
- Partners with internal WMCHealth leadership and stakeholders to solve problems/barriers identified by external partners
- Ensures active communication and partnership with internal and external stakeholders, include operational and hospital leadership to assess, vet and execute new opportunities
- Directs activities related to partner collaboratives to support strategic objectives in growth, grants or other network projects
- Collaborates across Network Strategy teams and other internal departments to accomplish shared projects
- Contributes to the Network Strategic planning and implementation processes
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: 7 years of relevant business development, or other relevant experience required. Leadership/management experience preferred.
Education: Master’s degree required. Master’s degree with specialization in health-related fields: business, administration, public health or other preferred.
Licenses / Certifications,
Other: Strong relationship building skills with provider community, external partners, and other stakeholders at executive and all levels. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of project management, data collection, analysis andpresentation skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines. Initiative and ability to work both independently and within a team. High proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel, PowerPoint required, Previous experience with Customer Relationship Management and project management software preferred.
