About Public Law Center
Founded in 1981, The Public Law Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free legal services to low income residents and other nonprofits in Orange County. Last year, Public Law Center staff and volunteers provided over 65,000 hours of free legal services in handling over 4,500 cases benefiting low-income children, adults and seniors. The estimated value of this work is roughly $60 million in just the past three years. Our services include counseling, individual representation, community education and strategic policy advocacy and impact litigation to challenge societal injustices.
About the role
The Public Law Center is seeking a hard-working, detail-oriented Development Manager with a strong background in event planning and donor engagement to join our growing fundraising team. The Development Manager will support year-round fundraising initiatives including Public Law Center's Volunteers for Justice Annual Event, individual, corporate and major gifts outreach & stewardship, donor relations & communications. This is a hybrid position and candidate must live within driving distance of PLC"s Santa Ana office and be able to attend on-site events on a regular basis.
What you"ll do
Event Planning & Fundraising
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Donor Development & Events to lead key elements of the Volunteers for Justice annual fundraising event
- Sponsorship Solicitation and Outreach
- Manage timelines, event budgets, and event communication
- Plan small cultivation events
- Identify and engage prospective donors to expand PLC's network of support
Donor Engagement & Development
- Support personalized stewardship efforts to retain and grow individual and corporate support
- Maintain accurate donor records and reporting
- Manage donor acknowledgment processes
- Assist with campaign planning and execution for giving circles, monthly donors, and other supporters
- Work with various volunteer committees including the PLC Advocates, Volunteers for Justice Event Committee and Development & Outreach committee
Communications Support
- Collaborate on the creation of donor-facing materials such as newsletters, social media posts, campaign updates, and thank-you messages
- Work with Grants and Communications Staff to coordinate effective outreach
- Contribute to storytelling materials that highlight client impact and donor support
- Prepare donor proposals
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, event planning, or related fields
- Proven success in fundraising and managing events
- Excellent project management skills; ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Self-starter who takes initiative, solves problems proactively, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team culture
- Strong experience and skills working with Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel). Experience working with donor databases preferred

Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications
