EMPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE

POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, develops, organizes and implements a health service for employees of SRMC. Consults with physicians, SRMC management personnel, and employees on individual health problems. Coordinates and provides professional nursing services in the areas of pre‑employment and annual medical examinations, Workers' Compensation, infection control, and employee health consultations.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience and 2 years experience as an Employee Health Nurse or Occupational Health Nurse. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, with current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in North Carolina. Substantial knowledge of nursing standards, methods and procedures gained through previous experience as an LPN in an acute care setting. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain records/reports and accomplish administrative functions. General knowledge of hospital operations and structure, JCAHO requirements for employee health and infection control. Basic knowledgeable of relevant employment law, such as ADA, OSHA, FMLA and worker’s compensation. BCLS certification; recertification required annually.
Preferred: Previous experience as an Employee Health or Occupational Health Nurse, and with administering Workers' Compensation programs.
