RN-PACU JOB SUMMARY:
The RN in PACU/ Pre-Op / G.I. Lab coordinates/provides care for patients undergoing surgical and invasive procedures. The patients are prepared for surgical/invasive procedures and may be monitored during those procedures then recovered from the anesthesia used, until discharge from the unit.
The PACU RN must be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical. The PACU/Pre-op/G.I. Lab staff nurse must be competent in assessment of Population specific requirements of care including appropriate behavior, motor skills, physiological/psychological norms.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current active California RN License required. American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses Certification preferred. Graduate from a school of nursing with either ADN or (BSN Preferred). Minimum of 3 years of PACU or ICU experience - preferred. Must have current BLS, ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association & NIHSS/Stoke Scale Certification.
Additional:
- Maintains BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Maintains ACLS/NALS certification (American Heart Association).
- NIHSS/Stroke Scale Certification.
- Computer-literate (working knowledge of Word and Excel). Experience with EMR.
Must be available for Call, which consists of 1-2 call shifts per week, and 1 weekend (Sat & Sunday) call shifts per month.
