Pay Rate: $30-$34 per hour
Provides psychosocial support services to facilitate patient and family adjustment to illness. Knowledgeable about the psychosocial impact of disease on individuals and families as it relates to their age, stage of development, culture, physical and psychosocial competence. Capabilities include individual and group counseling, case management and advocacy services and collaboration with the healthcare team.
Education: Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in oncology preferred. Strong clinical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Mastery of counseling theories and individual, family and group dynamics. Knowledge of major phases of adult development (young adulthood, middle age & elderly) and application of appropriate clinical interventions. Knowledge of the community health and welfare agencies and a basic knowledge of the types of cancer and treatment interventions. Ability to advocate for patient and family involvement in all aspects of their care.
License/Certification: New York State Licensure to practice Social Work in the State of New York within 6 months of hire date. Oncology certification preferred, BLS by American Heart Association preferred.
