Job Summary:
The Transporter performs under the direct supervision of the Director/Manager and dotted-line to Supervisors of the Radiology Department and is responsible for transporting all Emergency Room patients following Hospital and departmental policies while maintaining awareness for opportunities to represent FGH by serving in its best interests. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Accepts other responsibilities as are delegated by the Director/Manager to assure optimum patient care.

- Demonstrate the aptitude to maintain a safe work environment in the unit by: a.) Using proper body mechanics while lifting and bending b.)Utilizing appropriate patient transport equipment c.) Ensuring hallways are clear of carts, equipment, etc. d.) Following hospital policy regarding the use of hazardous materials e.) Inspecting the location and functioning of gas cylinders f.) Reporting malfunctioning equipment promptly to the relevant department g.) Returning equipment to proper storage area h.) Cleaning equipment with approved sanitizing agents
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
- Demonstrate the understanding/compliance of a confidential environment that meets all HIPAA regulatory guidelines
- Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or patient
- Demonstrates the ability to transfer emergency room patients to and from the Radiology Department is a timely manner
- Demonstrates the ability to determine which patients are ready for radiology imaging and adjusts accordingly in retrieving another patient when the other patient is not ready to come to department
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate continually with Imaging departments in reference to ED patient disposition and transport
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required. One year academic undergraduate work preferred.
Work Experience:
None required but preferably one year's experience in dealing with the public.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
