About the role
We are seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) who is passionate about improving health outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that clients receive the correct medications and dosages in alignment with physicians' orders. This includes making thoughtful recommendations to reduce prescriptions when necessary in collaboration with psychiatrists and medical teams. Additionally, the nurse will provide medication training to staff quarterly and as needed, as well as guidance on other medical concerns of our clients.
This is an ongoing, full-time position approximately 32-40 hours per week at $26.00 - $30.00
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer subcutaneous injections, including insulin and other prescribed medications, in accordance with patient care plans and physician orders.
- Monitor medication administration, storage, and documentation to verify accuracy and safety.
- Make evidence-based recommendations to medical teams to reduce over-prescription when appropriate.
- Provide training sessions for staff on medication administration, storage, and handling as needed, with quarterly refreshers.
- Collaborate with the Shine SLS team to foster a healthy and supportive environment for clients.
- Maintain detailed, organized audit reports with actionable insights, ensuring key findings and recommendations are communicated to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Valid LVN license in California.
- Experience in the field of developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for fostering independence and improving health outcomes.
