Position Summary
Kootenai Health is thrilled to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Director of Facility Design and Construction to join our expanding healthcare system!
As the Director Facility Design and Construction, you will oversees the overall hospital facility planning, property management, and construction at Kootenai Health. It would also include our inhouse smaller projects, departmental moves and space planning.

Responsibilities
• Provides leadership and strategic direction for master facility planning, capital project administration and management, facility lease analysis, negotiations, and management; assists with property planning needs and acquisitions
• Guides the selection process for architectural, engineering, and construction partners to ensure effective project implementation
• Plans safe and efficient facilities in conformity with fire, safety, sanitary, operational, and medical requirements and organizational goals
• Leads the facility planning and construction department in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Kootenai Health leadership team, departmental stakeholders, physicians, architects, engineers, general contractors and other stakeholders to provide a unified approach to healthcare facility service planning and construction project management
• Prepares, presents, and updates project proposals, budgets and schedules to a variety of audiences including the Executive Leadership Team, Board, Medical Staff, Foundation, and public constituencies
• Manages the inventory of property leases, negotiates renewals and new leases, and identifies and manages the acquisition process of new property and facilities
• Manages internal space assignments, space requests, and departmental moves to optimize the utilization of facility resources
• Maintains financial accountability for departments and capital projects as assigned
• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and manages activities and operations of department and team
• Provides guidance, training, coaching and mentoring to staff
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in capital planning and management, with an emphasis in the health care environment
• Minimum 5 years’ management experience required
• Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, and larger projects in excess of $50 million
Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift or move up to 35 lbs
• Must be able to maintain a standing or sitting position
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold for short periods of time
• Typical equipment used in an office job
• Repetitive movements
