JOB SUMMARY:
The Social Worker Assistant provides non-clinical support to the licensed Social Worker and helps coordinate essential services for patients undergoing treatment. This role supports the delivery of compassionate, comprehensive care by assisting with grant applications, financial aid processes, transportation arrangements, wig fittings, and other resource coordination aimed at improving the patient experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent and college degree preferred.
- Experience working in medical office and/or hospital billing environment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical tasks.
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skill.
- Understand the ethics of confidentiality and healthcare compliance.
- Average computer and data entry skills as required in the healthcare industry.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments daily and provide exquisite customer service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to sit and maintain work focus for extended periods of time.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to meet necessary meeting, training, and work schedules.
- Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections.
- Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
- Able to hear and converse with others on the phone.
- Demonstrates the ability to understand written instruction, make decisions and accomplish tasks in a high work volume environment to meet the necessary deadlines.
- Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to read and prepare documents accurately.
- Possess motor skills and coordination to effectively use computers and office equipment.
