As part of the Patient Access Receptionist for SMG at SCI is responsible for adhering to strict patient safety standards policies and procedures. Check-in patients greet and directs upon arrival, register patients verifies demographics and insurance eligibility coverage, scan patient's documents, collects and monies received at the time of registration, schedules follow up and diagnostic appointments for the patients, do reminders calls, pre-register patients, answer calls appropriately and performs other duties assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Always answers phones by identifying oneself in a courteous, efficient manner. Transfer calls to the appropriate division as required.
- Always greets patients in a courteous, pleasant, friendly manner
- Registers all patients upon arrival and confirms or updates patient information. Ensures accuracy of log by cross-checking with patient sign-in daily
- Always obtains current insurance information and verifies as required, maintaining copies of all documentation.
- Explains to patient in a courteous and tactful manner what the charges and payment mechanism will be, should the patient have no insurance coverage. Collects and posts monies received from the patient and issues receipt.
- Always obtains any required signatures/consents or authorizations.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Less than one year of basic clerical training and six to twelve months of previous work related experience plus one to three months of on-the-job training.
