We are seeking a Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Petmate. The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. This role involves managing production schedules, ensuring quality standards are met, and coordinating with various departments to optimize workflow. The Production Supervisor leads a team of production workers, providing guidance and support to achieve production targets. Additionally, the role includes monitoring equipment performance, implementing safety protocols, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Optimize customer service through teamwork and communication.
- Perform team management duties, including coaching, training, disciplinary actions, safety practices, scheduling, and motivating.
- Drive production improvements to meet department OEE goals.
- Ensure scheduled products are produced to specifications.
- Oversee and maintain high levels of housekeeping.
- Meet daily with off going and oncoming supervisors to ensure priorities are met.
- Plan and coordinate labor distribution, adjusting work assignments and schedules in response to fluctuating production needs, and working closely with HR for staffing requirements.
- Supervise, evaluate, promote, and enforce compliance with company safety policies, rules, and procedures.
- Ensure employees have the necessary training, tools, equipment, and information to meet production expectations.
- Manage daily labor efficiencies, downtime, scrap, and part quality.
- Oversee payroll, break schedules, and vacations for the shift.
- Implement visual workplace principles through Lean Six Sigma.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees in the Production Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Be a leader who can motivate, train, drive accountability, and be flexible enough to adapt to change.
- Experience in station layout designs and single piece flow.
- Understanding our metrics of OEE, Scrap, Safety, and Quality
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; spreadsheet and word processing Microsoft Office software; Mattec and Oracle.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or General Education degree
- 5 years of supervisor experience and capable of supervising 140 plus people in multiple departments.
- Plastic injection molding experience a plus.

3rd Shift; 10:00 pm - 7:00 am; Monday - Friday upon completion of training/probationary period. Can include Saturday/Sunday's as needed.
