A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN:
- The Calibration Technician performs inspection, calibration, and repair services on various instruments, test equipment and customer parts, in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
- Calibrates micrometers, calipers, rings, thread gaging, gage blocks, length standards, dial indicators, pressure, torque, force and mass instruments, using standard lab equipment.
- Ensures all work is performed accurately and in accordance with established specifications, procedures, and requirements.
- Performs and assists with the development of calibration procedures and methods in accordance with established specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Identifies out-of-tolerance conditions and performs corrective actions, adjustments, component replacement, and correction factors. Prepares reports and certificates.
- Ensures all test equipment and instruments are functioning properly and in calibration prior to using them or performing any tests.
- Ensures appropriate personnel are notified when equipment or instrumentation is found to be out of calibration or in need of repair.
- Analyzes and documents test and inspection results; consults with the appropriate metrology personnel as needed or directed.
- Monitors scheduled completion dates/times to ensure strict adherence; provides sufficient notice to appropriate personnel when schedules are at risk of not being met.
- Records all required data in LabMan or other applicable software/applications in a timely manner, while ensuring that it is accurate.
- Ensures completed products are properly stayed and protected prior to shipment.
- Assists with maintaining test equipment; Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and repair maintenance as needed.
- Assists other departments as needed, or upon request (e.g., Sales and Customer Service).
- Seeks clarification when job specifications, methods, or directions are unclear.
- Ensures assigned work area(s) are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- 3-5 years of technical experience and/or training is preferred.
- Experience with standard dimensional laboratory equipment; including the use of mechanical measuring tools required.
- Basic Microsoft Skills
- Force and/or threaded product experience preferred.
*This is a first shift role working at our location in Hatfield, PA. The hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 3:30pm.
