As Safety and Fleet Coordinator, your responsibility is to minimize the risks of job-related accidents and to promote health and safety at a designated project location. Your collaboration with local leadership and Safety and Fleet Manager will ensure a consistent approach to safety in the field.
What you"ll do
- Attend safety walks, inspections, and/or regular meetings that may be required onsite.
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe equipment operation.
- Perform daily visual observations of the jobsite in addition to weekly documented site safety observations.
- Be visible, involved, and accessible to craft personnel onsite while providing coaching and recommendations for safety improvements.
- Fully understand safety documents, management tools, guidelines, and procedures
- Interface with employees on a daily basis to ensure safe work practices and PPE requirements are being adhered to
- Manage incident reporting and analysis process for unplanned events onsite.
- Understand and lead toolbox talk and implement daily JSA/JHA reporting toolbox talk and implement daily JSA/JHA reporting.
- Collaborate with Project Manager, Construction Manager and subcontractors as needed to ensure safety practices are integrated into the construction schedule.
- Implement site specific safety plans.
- Perform other project-related safety duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in OSP fiber optic construction in similar role.
- Associate degree in Safety, Environmental Health or related field, or equivalent experience
- Safety certification is a plus.
- VDOT intermediate work zone certification, ATTSA Flagger certification highly recommended.
- Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and auditor safety software
- Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
- Ability to travel frequently to various project sites.
