What You’ll Do
The Registered Nurse (RN) works as a contributing member of the Perioperative Services Department at Grand River Health under the direction of the Perioperative Services Director and the Surgery Charge Nurse. Primary area of responsibility is conducting Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) for patients scheduled for services in the Perioperative Services Department.
- Performing and documenting verbal assessments with patients prior to admission, documenting pre-surgical care requirements, evaluating and relaying test results, working closely with Anesthesia providers, addressing key factors and communicating to appropriate care team personnel, documenting charges, and working collaboratively with other facilities and providers to obtain necessary and pertinent patient information.
- Documentation duties are performed in the electronic health record.
- Additional nursing duties may at times include floating to other Registered Nurse roles in the Perioperative Services Department.
- Specific patient care duties may include providing care, treatment, counseling, and health education to patients in the pre-surgical and post-surgical environment.
- Assists in monitoring patient’s physical, physiologic and emotional status in the immediate pre-surgical and post-surgical environment.
- Communicates with surgeons, Anesthesia team and other members of the care team about patient conditions and intervenes as necessary to maintain optimal care.
- Cross trains with other members of the Perioperative Services Nursing team in order to successfully perform various PACU, Coumadin Clinic, pre-surgical and post-surgical duties as needed.
- Serves as a resource to Perioperative staff in assisting with daily coordination of patient care.
- Coordinates daily schedules, nursing assignments and patient care with Surgery Charge Nurse. Assists Perioperative staff with admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For
- Licensed in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse. Must have current BLS card upon hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
- ACLS and PALS certification is required within 6 months of initial employment and must maintain current certification status throughout GRHD employment.
- Prefer one year of professional nursing experience in a pre-surgical, PACU or ICU patient care setting.
What We Offer
- $30.50 - $47.00 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
- Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
- Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
