POSITION SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for facilitating the improvement of practitioner performance and other organizational quality improvement initiatives. This is accomplished by managing and executing the collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting of practitioner performance measurement data and other quality data to identify and respond to improvement opportunities. This position will be responsible for the oversight, submission, and compliance with provider regulatory/quality data submission. The individual must be proficient at researching and analyzing national healthcare guidelines and reviewing published literature to determine appropriate strategies, tools, and best-practices required to develop and implement quality improvement activities. Provides technical assistance and training to providers and staff at all levels to support quality initiatives. The incumbent is expected to possess astute clinical knowledge and make efficient use of the tools and resources available internally and externally to accomplish the functions below.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: The individual must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, with a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Must possess an in-depth clinical knowledge, knowledge of performance improvement methodologies, and must be proficient in medical terminology. Must demonstrate competence in the analysis, interpretation, explanation and presentation of performance data. The individual must be able to lead, facilitate, support and mentor multidisciplinary teams (including providers) through the utilization of process improvement methodologies and techniques. Must demonstrate the ability to access data and information using the electronic record systems. Must be able to work collaboratively with members of the medical staff and staff from all levels with regard to quality/regulatory standards and performance improvement activities. Must be able to act as a change agent for process improvement and facilitate positive change. Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills to influence results, gain support and manage complex relationships across the organization. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software applications and databases. Must have ≥ 5 years of clinical experience within a hospital setting. Must possess a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (state and federal) regarding the provision of care for licensed providers. Must be self-motivated and able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Preferred: BSN preferred with experience in the coordination of performance improvement activities related to medical staff and other clinical improvement initiatives. Preferred Quality and/or Performance Improvement experience. Preferred critical care nursing experience.
