SUMMARY: The Filter Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of filtration systems in the lint room area of a textile or manufacturing plant. This role ensures that lint, fibers, and other contaminants are effectively filtered from the air and work environment, promoting a clean and safe facility. The operator ensures the smooth functioning of the lint removal equipment to prevent blockages, maintain airflow, and uphold air quality standards within the plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:

· Operate Lint Filtering Equipment:
- Operate and monitor lint filters, cyclones, and other dust collection equipment to remove lint, fibers, and other particulates from the air in the facility.
- Ensure the proper functioning of air filtration systems used to maintain air quality in the production area, particularly in areas like spinning, weaving, and other textile operations.
- Maintain optimal airflow through the filtration equipment by adjusting settings as necessary.
· Monitor and Adjust Filtration Systems:
- Continuously monitor the lint collection systems to ensure they are operating efficiently.
- Adjust airflow, pressure, and other settings on the equipment to optimize lint removal and prevent downtime or equipment malfunctions.
- Regularly inspect the condition of the filters and replace them as required.
· Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct routine maintenance on lint collection and filtration systems, including cleaning, inspecting, and replacing filters.
- Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment, such as blockages, leaks, or malfunctions, and make necessary repairs.
- Coordinate with the maintenance department for more complex repairs and equipment servicing.
· Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all lint room equipment and filtration systems comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Follow proper safety protocols for handling equipment, chemicals, and potential hazards, such as combustible lint.
- Regularly inspect the lint collection system for any potential safety hazards, such as fire risks, and take immediate action if needed.
· Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
- Document the condition of filters, air quality readings, and any adjustments made to the equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or deviations from operating procedures to the supervisor.
· Quality Control:
- Ensure that air quality and workplace cleanliness meet company standards and environmental regulations.
- Work with quality control teams to assess the effectiveness of the lint removal system and recommend improvements when necessary.
- Help maintain a clean and hygienic environment by effectively managing the filtration system.
· Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other operators and team members to ensure smooth coordination and operation of the facility’s air filtration system.
- Communicate effectively with the maintenance department regarding the need for repairs or system upgrades.
- Assist other team members in the lint room as needed during high-demand periods
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one month experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in air filtration systems or lint collection, is preferred.
- Familiarity with dust collection, filtration systems, or textile operations is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of air filtration systems, dust collectors, and lint removal equipment.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Basic understanding of environmental and safety regulations related to lint and air quality.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver’s license preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
Use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, hearing protectors, etc. is required in designated areas.
