Epic Principal Trainer - Inpatient Orders

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the Epic training environment, training materials and methods for clinical and non-clinical end users. Principal trainers work with the Training Manager and application analysts to develop and maintain the training program for their application. The Principal Trainers will become certified in the application(s) they support and are responsible for obtaining an in-depth understanding of the software, policies and procedures, and workflows for each application.
Job Duties:
1. Develops and implements super users, training programs and materials to support users of Epic applications and clinical information systems.
2. Work with application analysts in the design, build, test, and validation of the Epic clinical and/or business applications to meet the end user system requirements.
3. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining in depth knowledge of the software functionality through Epic certification, as well as understanding of clinical and/or business workflows to be implemented within the system.
4. Develops and maintains the master training environment for primary application suites supported.
5. Responsible for keeping current with system changes and enhancements to ensure thorough knowledge of the clinical and/or business information systems as they relate to physicians, clinicians, and business staff.
6. Assists in the planning and completion of project timelines, performs work task within work plans, adheres to target deadlines, and notifies managers of any delays or potential project risks.
7. Works with application managers in developing detailed materials, workflow diagrams, workflow validation, and training curriculum.
8. Works closely with Training Manager and other Principal Trainers in class scheduling, training Credentialed Users, and participating in training all physicians, clinicians, and business staff.
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or clinical field or equivalent work experience.
3 – 5 years’ experience in the healthcare field in a hospital/medical center/clinical setting with experience desired in building, implementing, and supporting clinical application systems.
3 – 5 years’ demonstrated experience in facilitation of classroom, online and one-on-one training. Strong presentation skills, effective communication and organization skills, interpersonal skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office products
