Position Overview:
Beacon Medical Group is seeking a compassionate, organized, and efficient Medical Assistant to support our healthcare team in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves a combination of patient care and administrative tasks, ensuring that all patients receive timely, professional, and respectful care. The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with patient care, manage patient records, perform clinical procedures, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Support:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Prepare patients for exams, collect medical histories, and document vital signs.
- Assist physicians and nurses during exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Perform routine lab tests, EKGs, and specimen collection.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by the physician.
- Provide patients with instructions based on physician’s directions.
- Maintain a clean and stocked exam room, including sterilizing equipment.
- Triaging patient calls, assessing urgency, and coordinating appropriate care.
- Schedule patient procedures and follow-up on hospital admissions.
- Manage medication refills and monitor patient compliance with prescribed treatments.
Administrative Support:
- Answer phones, take accurate messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records and files.
- Enter patient information into the EMR system, including diagnostic tests and past medical history.
- Manage the physician’s calendar, coordinating appointments and patient schedules.
- Assist with billing, insurance information, and other office-related tasks.
Professional Development & Teamwork:
- Attend and participate in required meetings, educational programs, and in-service training.
- Contribute to the overall success of the team by providing support to colleagues and enhancing patient care quality.
- Follow all protocols and regulatory requirements to maintain safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required (preferred completion of a Medical Assistant program).
- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is a plus.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) are highly desired.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in patient care procedures, EKGs, and basic laboratory tests.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Knowledge of office procedures, medical billing, and proficiency with EMR systems.
- Ability to perform venipuncture and assist with minor procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient positioning.
- Flexible schedule, with occasional overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced physician office environment.
