POSITION SUMMARY
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for planning and conducting occupational therapy programs within Craig Hospital to facilitate rehabilitation of patients with neurologic injuries. The Occupational Therapist also directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance life functions and facilitates the learning essential for adaptation of those functions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Registered as an Occupational Therapist; certified by the NBCOT required; Current Colorado occupational therapy license or licensed in another state and application made for Colorado license. A current BLS for the Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association is required.
- Education: Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Experience: TBI and SCI experience preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to build effective clinical leadership. Ability to conduct themselves in a diplomatic and tactful manner with professionals and non-professionals at all levels. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, and adapt to a changing environment with competence. Possess a dedication to teamwork and commitment to excellence. Must have the ability to apply strong clinical knowledge and decision-making regarding seating/positioning and various mobility systems to recommend appropriate equipment for persons with neurologic disabilities. Must have basic computer skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Complete thorough evaluation, including muscle tone, range of motion/mobility, orthopedic/splinting needs, movement analysis, perceptive/fine motor skills, sensory motor processing and functional activities of daily living.
- Develop and implement a treatment program to meet the individual needs of the patient.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding the use of adaptive equipment as needed and provide written justification and coordinate purchase of equipment for the patient with team members, Clinical Care management and other allied professionals.
- Consult, coordinate, communicate, and verbally present the patient's Occupational Therapy program and progress to treating team members.
- Make appropriate referrals to ancillary programs and clinics in order to enhance patients' functional progress
- Review physician referral and all medical records pertaining to the patient's condition.
- Evaluate and document physical, emotional/cognitive, perceptual, and functional abilities.
- Organize and lead individual and group treatment sessions
- Provide training to patients and families
- Participate in discharge planning, including home checkouts, and recommends home modifications as it relates to assistive technology use.
- Provide occupational therapy treatment in other department areas as requested.

Employees who are not benefit eligible due to working less than 24 hours/ week or being Per-Diem are able to participate in Craig Hospital’s 403B Retirement plan through Empower Retirement. Salary Range: $38.77/ Hour - $55.84/ Hour + 18% Per-Diem Differential
