The Registered Nurse collects and analyzes patient data, formulates care plans, determines progress toward attaining outcomes, coordinates care delivery, promotes a safe practice environment, and advocates mutual respect with patients, families, employees, and other healthcare providers. The Registered Nurse promotes health and human functioning, prevents illness and injury, facilitates healing, and alleviates suffering through a compassionate presence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs nursing skills and procedures according to established criteria of competent practice as defined by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Utilizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practices.
- Provides appropriate age and developmental care in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Integrates ethical provisions in nursing practice and delivers care that preserves and respects patients' and families' privacy, confidentiality, and diversity.
- Maintains a safe environment, including properly using and storing equipment and ensuring a hazard-free patient area.
- Maintains thorough documentation for maintaining patient safety, effective communication, and meeting legal and regulatory standards.
- Delegates tasks appropriately to other personnel.
- Assesses learning needs and provides tailored education to the patient/family regarding care, treatment, and potential risks relevant to the patient. Ensures a comprehensive understanding and documents accordingly.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience:
Previous acute care nursing experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of the hire date required.
