Clinical Informatics Pharmacist
Education Requirements: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Licensed pharmacist or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the State of Georgia.
Experience: Health-system pharmacy experience or PGY1 residency preferred
Job Function:
- Analyze clinical data to identify trends, improve patient safety, and enhance quality of care.
- Assess and redesign clinical workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline patient care to meet quality, safety, and regulatory needs and align with best practices.
- Assists with the integration of data, information, and clinical knowledge to support patient care decision making.
- Conducts workflow analysis and makes recommendations for change management strategies.
- Continually perform data analysis and monitor end user performance with the application.
- Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools that facilitate clinical decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop, train, and maintain a pool of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the various hospital departments and act as a liaison to coordinate system testing events, go-live support, and new user onboarding.
- Disseminates clinical needs to information technology staff and collaborate to develop appropriate solutions.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards in the management of clinical data and systems.
- Evaluates electronic solutions and develops implementation strategies to optimize software solutions.
- Facilitate implementation efforts, lead adoption, utilization, and optimization of assigned systems.
- Generate reports and dashboards to support clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Identify needed resources for system enhancement and overall project completeness.
- Lead change efforts through effective change management practices.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the inpatient and ambulatory clinical care setting and/or healthcare applications associated workflows.
- Maintain and document all applicable required education
- Maintain working knowledge of governmental regulations.
- Mentor colleagues of a lower job level on process improvement, industry knowledge, effective communication, team building, and non-task-oriented skills, as required.
- Participates in assigned committees to provide expertise and collaboration on use of clinical information system to meet patient-centered goals.
- Participates in projects related to electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, and other informatics initiatives.
- Prioritizes and implements updates and changes to the application according to change control policies.
- Provide training and support to clinical staff on the use of information systems, technology tools, Cerner Millennium and American Data electronic health record (EHR).
- Troubleshoot application issues and recommend fixes or workarounds as necessary.
- Understand build requirements and assist technical analyst as directed.
- Work closely with healthcare providers, IT teams, and stakeholders to understand clinical needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Work directly with software vendors for application enhancements and issue resolution.
