Director of Finance Overview
Directs the corporate finance and accounting operations of a $150+M not for profit human services agency, including General Ledger, Revenue Cycle, Accounts Payable & Payroll, Audit, Cost Reporting, Budget and Financial Statements preparation. Supervises the daily activities of the Melmark Pennsylvania accounting and finance staff. Ensures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Government Accounting Standards (GAGAS).
Schedule and Salary Information
- Monday- Friday 8:30a-5p (flexibility needed)

- Starting Salary: $135,000.00 (+) (based on years of experience after minimum position requirements, 7 year’s experience)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA highly desirable. A Master’s Degree in Finance, Business or a related field is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills are an asset. Expert in balance sheet responsibility, general ledger and cost allocation methodologies.
- Minimum of seven (7) years progressing accounting experience in a like size organization. Supervisory experience required, including supervision of multiple reports. Not for profit experience highly desirable. Prior balance sheet and allocation experience is required. Experience designing and completing spreadsheets to support processes, analysis or sound decision making.
- Possess a minimum of two years (2) driving experience holding a US Driver’s license.
Director of Finance Responsibilities
- Coordinates, oversees and supervises the daily revenue cycle activity of Melmark Pennsylvania. Responsible for the timely and accurate recording of all revenue transactions including the appropriate posting of revenue, accounts receivable and cash receipts. Responsible for overseeing the timely collection of accounts receivable and reporting the status of collection efforts.
- Collaborates with executive staff and program directors in developing Pennsylvania’s annual operating budgets.
- Coordinates with state divisions to generate consolidated annual budgets. GAAP financial statements and internal financial statements. Prepares the GAAP and consolidation portion of the Massachusetts UFR cost report.
- Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Produces or oversees the production of balance sheet account reconciliations in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinates and oversees the monthly close process to ensure efficient production and distribution of consolidated internal monthly reporting package and quarterly external reporting package. Ensures the monthly close occurs on time and ensures the accuracy of all reports.
- Preparation of Financial Statements for CFO and Sr. Management on a monthly basis, including Melmark, Inc., Melmark Services, Melmark Investments, LLC, and Consolidated Financial reports.
- Utilizes MS Office, Sage 100, Biznet, or other applicable accounting and financial software to record or analyze financial information.
- Develops and/or maintains cost allocation methodologies that adhere to various Human Service Financial regulations and accurately reflect program operations and service delivery costs.
