Position Statement
The house supervisor works collaboratively with all departments for efficient patient throughput, safe staffing levels and skill mix.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews census and acuity of nursing units with nurse leader to ensure unit areas staffed with appropriate mix to support current census. Verifies staffing needs.
- Utilizes InterQual to determine if the appropriate level of care is assigned to each patient.
- Arranges ambulance transport for timely patient transfers.
- Collaborates with Utilization Review to assure compliance with Critical Access Hospital (CAH) procedures.
- Assists with making phone calls to the appropriate entities when there is a patient death.
- Resource for all staff and providers during critical patient situations.
- Leads debriefs with staff after a traumatic situation or event.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate Science in Nursing degree or higher.
- Active Vermont license.
- 2-3 years staff nurse experience required.
- Basic life support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications in neonatal and pediatric populations.
