Nature of Role & Responsibilities
The Bundschu Company Tasting Room & Events Lead serves as a dynamic ambassador of the Bundschu Co. brand, driven by a passion for outstanding hospitality, customer service, and seamless event execution. This role supports the Tasting Room team and plays a key part in the daily operations of both Gundlach Bundschu and Abbot’s Passage properties. From hosting intimate private tastings to executing large-scale events—including weddings, concerts, and Wine Club gatherings—this role ensures guests receive a warm, memorable experience from start to finish. The ideal candidate thrives in a guest-facing, fast-paced environment, brings a positive and collaborative energy to the team, and is committed to delivering service that reflects the values of Bundschu Co. A flexible schedule, including Saturdays, Sundays and some evenings, is essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Event Lead Duties
- Lead coordination and execution of BCo events, including Private Tastings, Weddings, Concerts, Wine Club Events and Internal Company Events
- Support Private Events team with event setup and breakdown, including POS register and cash management, menu customizations, culinary vendor coordination, opening/closing the property as needed
- Host private events independently, responsible for acting as a BCo brand ambassador while hosting private tastings, tours, VIP guests and other private groups, including wedding parties and corporate groups
- Accountable for contributing towards departmental sales goals, club signup and data collection targets
- Responsible for supporting all onboarding and ongoing training for the Events sales team
- Tasting Room Lead Duties
- Provides day-to-day operational assistance to Tasting Room Managers, including opening and closing duties for both Gundlach Bundschu & Abbot’s Passage tasting rooms.
- Supports assigning team tasks, problem solving reservations & POS questions, and checking out team members at end of day.
- Supports with monitoring team performance, tracking sales successes and recording performance or professionalism incidents
- Assists with keeping hospitality spaces clean, organized and well-stocked
- Assists Tasting Room Managers with monthly inventory reconciliation of physical stock and the ordering of supplies/ wine inventory (as needed)
- Assists with data entry and customer management updates in our POS system
- Assists Tasting Room managers in developing, implementing and keeping SOP’s in place.
- Support with other departmental tasks, including merchandise and supply ordering, payroll support, Tock management and menu/collateral maintenance.
- Host our guests as needed including wine tastings and tours, and supporting concierge and runners as needed.
- Sales and Administrative Support
- Responsible for responding to customer inquiries though phone and email outreach and promptly providing a response
- Become a booking expert by effortlessly evaluating group needs, proposing options, upselling and cross-promoting properties, securing all information necessary to book tastings, tours and events
- Utilize Tock and Triple Seat to book and manage all reservations
- Coordinate with Facilities staff to maintain multiple event sites, hard assets, and facility needs.
- Act as DTC Customer Service Support during event department off-season and as needed
- All other duties, as assigned.

- Assists Tasting Room Managers with input of new data (club forms, ship forms, partial data) and can problem solve with staff members
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the wine industry preferred
- Minimum 2 years in a hospitality or customer-facing role; restaurant experience a plus
- Strong working knowledge of wine and wine service preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to support and motivate a diverse team in a positive, hands-on way
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate POS systems (e.g., AMS) and reservation platforms (e.g., Tock, Tripleseat)
- Professional demeanor and polished communication style
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and sharing wine knowledge
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable with strong follow-through
- Access to reliable transportation between winery properties as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work all days, nights, weekends, holidays and shifts as scheduled.
- Regular work requires a great deal of standing, lifting, bending and stretching.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. or more with assistance.
- Must be able to work at either at Gundlach Bundschu and Abbot’s Passage Winery. Must have reliable transportation between locations during the shift/event as required.
