A Brief Overview
Plans, coordinates and supervises daily nursing activities within the General and the Trauma Resus (CCA) and performs professional nursing duties in accordance with established policies and procedures. Plans work schedules, assigns duties/activities to professional/ancillary staff and monitors daily workflow to ensure that quality service is provided and to achieve positive patient outcomes. Resolves complaints, conflicts, and operational problems to facilitate efficient patient care and ensure that patient care objectives are maintained.
What you will do
- Apprises Nurse Manager of any departmental issues, pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner with action plans for immediate implementation/approval.
- Maintains awareness and ensures compliance of federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the work of nursing personnel and instructs them in providing technical care.
- Serves as the unit liaison and resource nurse-in-charge, exchanging information with other Charge Nurses at change of shift briefings and with physicians. Contacts other services for specialized treatment, tests, facilities, equipment and material support to the unit.
- Provides nursing care of the GICU and CCA patients when required.
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Applies cost effective measures related to budget and utilizes defined departmental procedures to allocate resources related to personnel, and supplies
- Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. * Attends staff meetings, mandatory in-service, and continuing education as required. * Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor of Nursing Required. Required and
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Nursing Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in state of TN Upon Hire Required and
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- ACLS Upon Hire Required and
- CCRN - Critical Care Registered Nurse (Adult, Neonatal, and Pediatric Acute) Upon Hire Preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience nursing experience in a Critical Care environment Required and
- Minimum 1 year experience supervisory experience. Required
