The Role:
Goddard is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong engineering background and a passion for product development to help establish and grow our Seattle office. In this hybrid role, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering projects, build and manage a high-performing local team, and support new business initiatives. You'll serve as a key liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring project success, client satisfaction, and strategic growth.
The desired candidate will have exceptional project and people management skills, technical leadership, and experience building teams. This role is a hybrid position in the Greater Seattle area with frequent travel to local client sites.
Responsibilities:
- Own the project vision and execution, ensuring delivery of profitable, high-quality outcomes.
- Track budgets, schedules, and deliverables while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, industrial design, quality, and documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and building trust.
- Provide strategic guidance and technical insight throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Empower clients with data-driven insights to support confident decision-making.
- Motivate and manage project leads and team members; assign tasks and monitor performance.
- Collaborate with functional managers to allocate resources and lead project kickoff meetings.
- Help establish and grow Goddard's Seattle presence, including team building and local operations.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
- Maintain team alignment and momentum through clear communication and structured planning.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Support proposal development, rapidly assessing project scope and feasibility.
- Ensure compliance with Goddard's Quality Management System.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor"s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with 4+ years leading and building product development teams (hardware and software) desired.
- Deep understanding of the full product development lifecycle.
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to translate complex challenges into actionable plans.
- Proven ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships.
- Excellent communication (written as well as verbal), collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the client, technical team, and business development team.
- Experience supporting Sales teams and new business initiatives desired.
- Experience in regulated product development environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project (or equivalent), Microsoft Office Suite, and task tracking tools (e.g., Asana, Jira).
- Ability to travel domestically a minimum of 25%.
- PMP certification is a plus.
