We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will assist with day-to-day accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining and updating the general ledger.
- Post journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of accounts.
- Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Help analyze financial results, providing insights into budget performance, variances, and trends.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for external auditors during year-end audits.
- Process invoices, ensuring that all payments are recorded accurately.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports.
- Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Assist with tax filings and compliance reports (sales tax, income tax, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures in accordance with company standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting setting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
