Procurement & Inventory Manager
Overview
A rapidly growing, privately backed industrial services company is seeking a Procurement & Inventory Manager to establish and lead purchasing and inventory control functions. This is a newly created, hands-on role designed to centralize procurement and inventory operations across multiple locations. The position offers an opportunity to build processes from the ground up and support the continued growth of a well-established, multi-location operation.
Reporting To
Operations Leadership / Shop Manager
Key Responsibilities
Build, implement, and manage procurement strategies aligned with company growth and cost objectives.
Oversee sourcing, supplier negotiations, purchasing of materials, parts, equipment, and services for both operational and fleet needs.
Manage procurement across diverse categories including industrial raw materials, coatings, automotive parts, heavy equipment components, and consumables.
Implement and oversee perpetual inventory systems using inventory management software (e.g., Fleetio) across multiple sites.
Monitor inventory levels to balance sufficient stock availability without overstocking, including forecasting future material needs based on contracts and seasonal workflows.
Conduct market research and vendor assessments to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with leadership across operations, logistics, finance, and maintenance to optimize procurement and inventory practices.
Provide regular reporting on procurement metrics and performance to leadership.
Support recruitment, training, and eventual oversight of additional inventory and procurement personnel as business needs dictate.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain, ideally within industrial services, heavy equipment, construction, or related industries.
Experience managing both raw materials procurement and fleet parts inventory strongly preferred.
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, highly dynamic environments with limited layers of management.
Demonstrated ability to build and improve systems and processes in smaller, growing organizations.
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
Proficient in ERP and inventory management systems; experience with Fleetio or comparable systems is a plus.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to operate hands-on in a highly collaborative, team-based culture.
Technical certifications (CPSM, APICS, CPIM) are a plus but not required.
Technologically savvy; able to contribute to the company's recent digitalization initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
Target salary: ~$100,000 to $120,000 depending on experience and fit.

Work Environment & Schedule
Full-time onsite role; no remote work.
Schedule aligns with operational hours: Monday-Friday, 40+ hours/week, typically within shop operating hours (approx. 5:30am – 6:00pm).
Seasonal nature of business may require flexibility during peak operational months.
Must be comfortable working directly alongside operations, shop, and fleet teams.
Periodic local travel required for vendor visits and part pickups.
Physical Requirements
Ability to frequently climb in and out of vehicles and trucks.
Regular bending, standing, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
Work performed primarily in a shop environment, including exposure to equipment, noise, and varying environmental conditions.
Personal protective equipment provided and required.
