DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Scientific and Technical Manager is a part of the Laboratory Leadership team. Working with the Laboratory Medical Director and Administrative Director, the Scientific and Technical Manager is responsible for the scientific oversight of all laboratory testing and has oversight of the Laboratory Quality Improvement Program. This position maintains relationships with pathologists and medical staff to ensure laboratory results are of appropriate utilization for patients while having direct responsibility over assigned clinical departments. Along with all Lab management, develops long and short-range plans, strategic business growth, expansion, and diversification that supports BMC plan and Ancillary Services operational plans. Participates in the teaching of the Medical Technology Students.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Five years of recent laboratory experience required.

Three years’ experience in a management role required.

Experience in developing and implementing new tests or protocols required.

Experience in developing quality management programs required.

Education and Training:
-
Master of Science degree required; PhD preferred.
