DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
The primary function of a Safety and Security/Site Facility Officer is to provide personal security for patients and staff and to perform varied and specified tasks during designated times relating directly to the observation and documentation that all campus facilities, property are safe, secure and in accordance with developed policies and procedures of Berkshire Health Systems and the Berkshire Medical Center Safety & Security Department.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Facilities Engineering background, 2 years general building and equipment maintenance work experience required. Safety & Security Officer, Corrections Officer, Military, or Police Officer experience preferred.

Education and Training:
-
4 years Technical High School or Technical craft/trade school preferred.

Restraint training (within six months of hire.)

License, Certification & Registration:
-
DRIVER - Driver's License
-
CPR
-
Other Requirements:
-
Demonstrate ability to use computer for PM system and a basic knowledge to use Microsoft Excel and Word.

Demonstrated ability to use communication devices, i.e. smartphones, pagers, radios, telephones and computer devices and responds within an appropriate time period.

Ability to speak, read and write the English language in an understandable manner.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to assess potentially violent situations and safely restrain patients and/or visitors when needed.

Must be able to react calmly and quickly to diffuse unpredictable situations that may involve physical confrontation.

Adaptability to occasional variations in shift commitment.
-
Must comply with all Mandatory Hospital, Joint Commission and Department education and training/competency requirements.
