TITLE: UPS Field Service Engineer (FSE)
TYPE: Direct Hire
LOCATION: Virginia (Within 1.5 hr travel time to Sterling and Ashburn, VA area)

- Majority Local Travel: Primarily within the local area with occasional overnight stays nationwide based on business needs and training opportunities.

Job Description:
The UPS Field Service Engineer (FSE) applies diversified knowledge of the power electronics industry to complete start-up, testing, troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance of UPS and related critical power equipment. The FSE will be home-based and dispatched to customer sites as required.
Specific Duties:
- Commission, maintain, and provide emergency support on power electronics at customer sites within the regional coverage area
- Perform commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare commissioning test procedures and reports, and coordinate and oversee on-site testing
- Engage in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications
- Attend periodic training at headquarters on various OEM units and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including testing equipment and/or rebuilding older systems
- Troubleshoot issues with the technical-support group related to maintenance or operation of equipment
- Participate in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and consult with supervisors concerning unusual problems and developments
Job Requirements:
- Preferably 3-5+ years of experience in the critical power industry with the ability to troubleshoot down to the component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU's, STS, etc.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and test equipment
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills, and customer relation skills
- Ability to provide a high level of quality customer service
- Must complete Field Service Reports in a timely manner
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications
- Ability to work independently and exhibit resourcefulness
- Physical capability to perform repeated bending and lifting of up to 100 lbs. during certain procedures
- Ability to provide necessary pro-active recommendations to clients
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Knowledge of general computer hardware and software applications
- Previous 3rd Party UPS experience is a plus
- UPS OEM factory training or experience with Liebert/Emerson/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware is a must
- Technical degree is a plus
- Previous military experience and training are a plus
Educational Background:
- Technical graduate from a two-year accredited technical school in an engineering/technical field
OR - Three to five years of technician experience in a related power electronics field or industry
The pay range for this role is:75,000 - 80,000 USD per year(USA)
